What is Oriental Medicine? |
|
Oriental Medicine (also known as
Traditional Chinese Medicine/TCM) is based on an energetic model
rather than a biochemical model, like that of western medicine. It’s
written literature stretches back almost 2,500 years. The ancient
Chinese recognized a vital energy behind all life forms and life
processes. They called this energy Qi (pronounced chee). In
developing an understanding of the prevention and treatment of
disease, healing practitioners discovered that energy flows along
specific pathways throughout the body called meridians. Each pathway
is associated with a particular physiological system and internal
organ. |

|
Cosmetic acupuncture is a painless,
non-surgical method of reducing the signs of ageing. Acupuncture
techniques have been in practice for nearly 5,000 years, and the use
of acupuncture for cosmetology is not a new idea. As early as the
Sung Dynasty (960 AD-1270 AD) acupuncture practices for facial beauty
were employed for the Empress and Imperial Family. Cosmetic
acupuncture treatments are based on the principles of Oriental
medicine. It involves the insertion of sterilized, disposable,
hair-thin needles into particular areas of the face and body to
