Guergis is all Criticism and no Solution
07 July, 2008

In one of her latest newspaper reports, Simcoe/Grey MP Helena rants in a rather juvenile fashion about how bad Stéphane Dion’s carbon tax plan is. Unfortunately, she fails to acknowledge that global warming is a serious problem, let alone explain how her own party would solve it.

Dion’s plan is very similar to that of the Green Party. Jack Layton and the NDP are proposing a similar approach to global warming with their “cap and trade” proposal;

Layton is on record as saying he would welcome a good debate on the issue.

Dion did not invent the idea of carbon tax or cap and trade. He simply joined the company of such well-respected people as David Suzuki, Al Gore, the Sierra Club, several European nations and more. Even Barack Obama and John McCain support the idea. In the meantime, where is the Conservatives’ plan to combat global warming?

So, when Ms. Guergis goes on the attack against Dion, who really looks the fool?

Katy Austin,
Simcoe/Grey NDP
